Vaduz
The political and cultural centre of the country, Vaduz is the capital city of Liechtenstein, known for its charm-ridden, stunning older houses, cultural landmarks, and picturesque mountain scenery. Walking around the city is akin to strolling about an open-air art exhibit, with access to modern museums, traditional Alpine houses, rose-strewn gardens, intricate architecture, and mouth-watering national food that warms visitors up even on the snowiest of days.
Malbun
A small-scale mountain village home to the country’s main ski resort, Malbun is a winter wonderland where plump snowflakes litter dark timber roofs and the white peaks of the Alps loom above like sleeping giants. A prime spot for skiing fanatics, the area also offers snowshoeing, llama walking, ice climbing, and hiking. Despite its wintry reputation, summer in Malbun is equally as enchanting, with bell-jangling cows meandering through meadows, verdant trails, and flowers awning the fields like a kaleidoscope, making it the perfect hiking paradise.
Vaduz Castle
Vaduz Castle proudly towers 120 metres above the capital city. With origins dating back to the 12th century, the turreted and fantasy-esque castle is set against the theatrical backdrop of soaring mountains and verdant hills. As the official residence of the royal family, the castle is closed to the public; however, you can take a look inside the castle walls at the “Altes Kino Vaduz” or “Fürstenkino” every afternoon at 2pm.
